Poplarville to Honor Local Heroes During National Police Week

The City of Poplarville will join communities across the country in recognizing National Police Week beginning Monday, May 12, 2025, honoring the service and sacrifice of local law enforcement officers.

The city’s observance reflects a national resolution written by U.S. Rep. Mike Ezell and submitted to Congress, emphasizing law enforcement’s critical role in upholding laws, protecting neighborhoods, and maintaining public safety throughout the United States.

The resolution highlights local officers’ tireless efforts to uphold the rule of law, confront crime, and keep streets safe—often at significant personal risk. It also acknowledges the importance of fostering strong relationships between officers and the communities they serve.

Among its provisions, the resolution:

  • Recognizes the dedication of local law enforcement in keeping communities safe.
  • Expresses gratitude to officers and their families for their service and sacrifice.
  • Honors those who have fallen in the line of duty.
  • Encourages continued collaboration between law enforcement and the public to strengthen trust and public safety.

Poplarville officials encourage residents to take time during the week to express appreciation for the city’s police officers and their ongoing commitment to protecting the community.

National Police Week was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy and is observed annually to honor law enforcement officers nationwide.
