The City of Poplarville has received notification that the Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARFORSOC) will conduct Realistic Military Training across several southern states, including Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Poplarville has been designated as one of the training locations.

The training is scheduled from October 7th to November 14th, 2023, and is organized in three 10-day periods, with a three-day administrative pause between each period. The exercises may extend into later hours, replicating real-world scenarios where utilizing darkness for cover is essential to the training.

The training exercises will simulate military operations and may involve various assets such as helicopters, two-winged aircraft, paintball, and military vehicles. They emphasized that no live ammunition will be used during these exercises.
