A 15-year-old resident of Vicksburg lost their life in a single-vehicle accident on Friday night, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP). The incident occurred around 11:41 p.m. on Interstate 20 West near the 18-mile marker in Hinds County.

The MHP responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Lauren Young, was traveling west on Interstate 20 when it veered off the road and collided with the median.

Lauren Young and four minor passengers, all from Vicksburg, were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson for medical evaluation. Unfortunately, one of the passengers, 15-year-old Gracie Wren, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident are being examined. The focus of the investigation includes determining the cause of the crash and any contributing factors.
