Pearl River County to Hold Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event

The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors will host a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day on Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until grant funds are expended.

The drop-off location for the event will be the Pearl River County Health Department, located at 7547 Highway 11 in Carriere. The event is funded through a grant from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ).

Accepted Items:

Residents can safely dispose of the following household hazardous waste materials:

  • Aerosols
  • Corrosives and oxidizers (household chemicals)
  • Poisonous substances
  • Flammable liquids (gasoline, diesel, kerosene)
  • Batteries (car and small batteries)
  • Mercury and instruments containing mercury
  • Fluorescent and compact bulbs
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Propane tanks
  • Electronic items (TVs, printers)

Items Not Accepted:

The following items will not be accepted at the event:

  • Infectious waste or debris
  • Sharps/needles
  • DEA-regulated materials or medications
  • Radioactive waste
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks and ammunition
