City officials announced that City Park in Poplarville is temporarily closed due to downed trees blocking the walking track.

The closure follows a storm over the weekend that caused widespread damage across Mississippi. At the storm’s peak, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reported more than 41,000 power outages statewide.

City officials stated that the park will remain closed until the fallen trees are removed. No reopening date has been announced, but updates will be provided as work progresses.
