Poplarville School District Hosts Second Annual “Christmas in P-Ville” Production

On Thursday, the Poplarville School District Fine Arts Department presented its second annual holiday production, “Christmas in P-Ville,” at the Brownstone Center at Pearl River Community College. A reimagining of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” the event showcased the talents of students from various levels within the district.
The production included performances from PLE, PUE, MSP, and PHS choirs, the MSP and PHS dance teams, the PHS band, and the SEDA dance studio, including appearances by the Grinch and his dog Max. The event was coordinated by Andrea Will, the Choir Director at Poplarville High, and marked the second consecutive year of its presentation.
Will noted a significant increase in student participation this year, with nearly double the number of students involved compared to the previous year. The performance drew a substantial audience, with standing room only even before the show commenced.
Anticipating a successful program, Will mentioned before the performance, “I am expecting a great program that will give the kids in our district an opportunity to be a part of a theatrical production.”
The production, which had been in the planning stages since the previous Christmas, included over 200 performers and cast members. Post-performance, Will expressed relief and excitement for the students involved in the production.
Looking forward, Will has already begun planning for next year’s performance, tentatively titled “Christmas Memories: Memories You Have, Memories You’ll Make.” The theme aims to continue the tradition of providing students with an opportunity to be part of a theatrical production.
“Christmas in P-Ville” once again demonstrated the district’s commitment to fostering artistic collaboration and offering students a platform to showcase their talents.
