POPULARVILLE, MS — The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is actively participating in the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Christmas/New Year’s Blitz Campaign from December 15th, to January 1st. The initiative aims to enhance road safety during the holiday season and prevent impaired driving.

During this period, Sheriff David Allison announced that the department’s deputies would engage in additional enforcement activities, including safety checkpoints and proactive community patrols. The heightened efforts underscore the PRCSO’s commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens throughout the holiday season.

Sheriff Allison emphasized the department’s longstanding participation in the campaign, noting, “We have participated in this program annually for several years. While we are fortunate to have relatively low incidents of drinking and driving, we remain vigilant to address any potential risks. It is crucial to spread awareness that the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Poplarville Police, Picayune Police, and the Sheriff’s Department will be actively enforcing drinking laws during this time.”

The Sheriff urged residents to have fun and enjoy the holiday season responsibly. “We want people to have a safe and happy holiday season,” he stated.
