On April 18, 2023, Officers with the Poplarville Police Department were conducting a Traffic Safety Check Point when a 2017 Toyota Tacoma driven by Chase Weiss entered the Checkpoint. As the officer approached the vehicle, he immediately noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Mr. Weiss was asked to step out of the vehicle while the officer conducted a probable cause search. During the search, the officer recovered 5.3 grams of marijuana, a loaded pump action .22 caliber rifle, and two dosage units of LSD. Mr. Weiss was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance while in Possession of a Firearm
